Narrative:

     Erastus Ketner was born on 20 May 1832 in Columbia Co., Pennsylvania.5,6,7 He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Madison Twp., Montour Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of his parents, John Ketner and Lydia Sterner. He reported his occupation as laborer.11
     Erastus married Sarah Amanda Bortz, daughter of George Bortz and Anna Zeigler, about 1853.8,9,10
     Erastus and Sarah appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Milton, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 2 Aug 1860. Their daughter Clara was listed as living with them, as was William David Riegel. Erastus reported that he was a farmer.2
     Erastus and his family moved to Watsontown by 1870. Erastus and Sarah appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Watsontown, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 2 Aug 1870, reporting no real estate but $150 in personal estate. Their children Clara and Edward were listed as living with them. He was by then working as a mill hand.12
     Erastus and Sarah appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Watsontown, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 2 Jun 1880. Their children Clara and Edward were listed as living with them.13
     Erastus and Sarah appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Watsontown, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, at 9 North Ash St., enumerated 6 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. Their son Edward was listed as living with them.14
     He was a laborer by 1880, and continued in that occupation the rest of his life. In 1900 he reported he was working in a table factory.15,16,17
     Erastus died on 6 May 1906 in Watsontown, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania at age 73, at his home on Oak St.3 He was buried on 9 May 1906 in Watsontown Cemetery, Watsontown, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania.3
