     Travis Gilmore was born on 14 Aug 1894 in Centerville, Leon Co., Texas.8,9,10 His formal name was William Travis Gilmore, apparently after his father, but except for a few legal documents, he used his middle name, Travis.15,16,6
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas, in the household of his parents, William Thomas Gilmore and Nannie Frances Fletcher.7
     His father died in 1901, when Travis was about 7 years old.17,18 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas, in the household of his mother.5
     Travis registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at 404 W. Chandler, Brownwood, Texas, reporting he was employed as a drug clerk by Renfro-McMinn Co. of Brownwood.16
     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas, in the household of his mother.19
     Travis married Ruth Kirkpatrick, daughter of Moses Clark Kirkpatrick and Carrie Imogene Maxwell, on 22 Jun 1924 in Mullin, Mills Co., Texas.11,12,13
     Travis and Ruth appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas, at 401 East Depot, enumerated May 1930, reporting that they owned their home, valued at $4,500, and had a radio.20
     Travis and Ruth appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas, at 401 East Depot, enumerated 15 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a home valued at $4,000, and had lived in the same town in 1935. Also listed as living with them were her sister Nellie and Polly Anna Hall, age 25 and a bookkeeper at a candy factory, also listed as a lodger.21
     Travis registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at 401 East Depot, Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas, reporting he was employed by Boldwin & Gilmore, at 1500 Coggin Ave., Brownwood.22
     He was a salesman drug store in 1910, at age15, and a salesman for a garage in 1920. By 1930 was the proprietor of a wholesale grocery business.23,24,25 He was an oil distributor by 1940, when he reported he had worked 72 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the year before.26,27
     His wife died on 2 Feb 1964 in Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas.28
     Travis died on 31 Aug 1977 at 1815 Eleventh St., Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas, at age 83.14 He was buried on 1 Sep 1977 in Greenleaf Cemetery, Brownwood, Texas.14
