James M. Taylor was born on 2 Feb 1846 in IndianaG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Franklin Twp., Putnam Co., IndianaG, in the household of his parents, John G. Taylor and Margaret Catherwood.13 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Jackson Twp., Putnam Co., IndianaG, in the household of his parents.14 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Jackson Twp., Putnam Co., IndianaG, in the household of his parents.15
     James married Alice M. Cobb, daughter of Willard Burr Cobb and Submit S. Garlinghouse, on 15 Dec 1870 in Putnam Co., IndianaG.7,8
     He was a farm laborer, likely on the family farm, in 1870, and a clerk in a store by 1880.16,17
     James and Alice moved to Boone Co.G before 1880. They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Lebanon, Boone Co., Indiana G, enumerated 21 Jun 1880. Their children Inez, Thomas, and Charles were listed as living with them.18
     James and Alice moved to IndianapolisG before 1900. They appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at 1627 Cornelle Ave. G, enumerated 3 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their home.19
     By 1900 he had become a life insurance agent.20,17
     James and Alice appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at 308 E North St. G, enumerated 22 Apr 1910, reporting they rented their home.21
     James died on 13 Jan 1915 in Indianapolis, Marion Co., IndianaG, at age 68.9,10 He was buried on 20 Jan 1915 in Roachdale Cemetery, Roachdale, Putnam Co., IndianaG.11,12
