Narrative:

William Wallace Gibson was born on 20 Aug 1823 in Pomfret, VermontG, according to his birth record, though the date computed from his death record is about 13 Mar 1826.4,5,6
     William married first Elizabeth P. Wood.7,8
     William and Elizabeth appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Pomfret, Windsor Co., VermontG, enumerated 14 Sep 1850, reporting real estate valued at $1,600. Their daughter Mary was listed as living with them, as was Paul Lake, a 65-year-old farmer.2
     His wife died on 12 Jul 1854 in Pomfret, VermontG.15
     William married second Martha Jackson Wood, daughter of Amos Wood and Eunice, on 31 Oct 1854 in Pomfret, VermontG, with Rev. Elisha Smith officiating.11
     Martha died on 11 Jul 1859 in Pomfret, VermontG.16
     William appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Pomfret, Windsor Co., VermontG, enumerated 3 Aug 1860, reporting real estate valued at $3,100 and personal estate of $1,000. His children Mary, Elizabeth, Katie, and William were listed as living with him.17
     William married third Mary E. Bacon, daughter of Alpheus Bacon and Sarah Cobb.9,10
     William and Mary moved to Orleans Co., New YorkG, where she had been living with her father before they married, before 1870. They appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Ridgeway, Orleans Co., New YorkG, enumerated 29 Jun 1870, reporting no real or personal estate. Their children Alpha and Gardner and his children by his prior marriages, Elizabeth, Katie, and William, were listed as living with them, as was James Harris, a 28-year-old farm worker.18
     Mary died on 8 Jan 1871 in Ridgeway, New YorkG.19
     William married fourth Jennie P. Gibson, daughter of John Gibson and Laura Evans, on 10 Aug 1871 in Wellsboro, Tioga Co., PennsylvaniaG, at the bride's home, with Rev. D. D. Buck officiating. They were first cousins.12,13
     William and Jennie returned to his native Vermont after their marriage. They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Pomfret, Windsor Co., Vermont G, enumerated 7 Jun 1880. Their daughter Susan and his sons by his prior marriage, Alpha and John, were listed as living with them.20
     He was a farmer, on his own account except for the period when he lived in New York, when he did farm work for others.21,22,23,24
     Jennie died on 3 Jul 1892 in Pomfret, VermontG.25
     William died on 7 Dec 1897 in Pomfret, VermontG, at age 74, killed in the woods by logs rolling on him.14
