On 6 Feb 1943 it pleaded guilty in Federal Court to a charge of misbranding its farm animal feed, and was fined $100. It was charged with claiming the feed was effective in treatment of certain diseases, and claiming it gave the same results as whole and skim milk at half the cost.
28 On 18 Aug 1944 Stephen and his brother Joseph, and both their wives, identified as copartners trading as Mutual Products Co., entered a cease and desist agreement with the Federal Trade Commission. Under the agreement they would not make a long list of claims about the product, including that 25 pound of the product was equal to 1,200 pounds of whole milk, that it protected calves from scours and pigs from worms, or it would produce rapid growth in pigs or chicks.
