     He appeared on the 1906 Federal Census of MacDonald district, Manitoba, CanadaG, in the household of his parents, Carmi Winslow and Sisel Charlotte Sletto.¹⁵ He appeared on the 1911 Federal Census of MacDonald district, Manitoba, CanadaG, in the household of his parents.¹⁶
     He moved to the United States with his parents in 1912, when they returned to the country, apparently living in California for a time.¹⁷ He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota, G in the household of his parents.¹⁸
     His father founded Mutual Products Company, producer of processed livestock feed products. Stephen became a salesman for the company, living with his parents at 4212 Lyndale Ave. S., MinneapolisG, until about 1929.^19,20 He moved to California about 1930, where he continued to work as a salesman for the company, under the Dairyade brand.^21,22
     Stephen married Minnie Diana Thomas Gracey, daughter of Julien Frank Gracey and Minnie Irene Thomas, on 24 Mar 1930 in Everett, Snohomish Co., WashingtonG, with Rev. Geo. T. Gunter officiating.^7,8,9 Their marriage certificate shows him "of" Oakland, California, and her "of" Clarksville, Tennessee, though no record has been found of her living there for some time before. Why they were married in Snohomish Co., WashingtonG, is unknown, other than it was a popular place for couples in the area to go for a quiet wedding. It is also unknown why they seemed to not acknowledge this marriage, and were married again with more public acknowledgement a few months later, unless her divorce from her first husband was not yet final.³
     Stephen appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Oakland, Alameda Co., California, at 344 13th St. G, enumerated 22 Apr 1930, a a roomer in a building operated by Thomas McCabe and his wife. The nature of the accommodation is not clear, but it was quite large, with 98 roomers listed. Minnie was not listed there, nor has she been found elsewhere, and he was shown as single.²³
     Stephen and Minnie were married again on 21 Jun 1930 in Hayward, Alameda Co., CaliforniaG, with Rev. Charles Edward Lukens, Jr. officiating.¹⁰ Their second marriage was officially announced in Clarksville in a 23 Jun 1930 newspaper by her older brother Julien.²⁴
     Stephen and Minnie settled in Oakland, CaliforniaG, after their marriage.²⁵
      Stephen and Diana returned to his former home city, Minneapolis, MinnesotaG, by 1935.²⁶ They appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Minneapolis, Hennipen Co., Minnesota, at 1500 LaSalle Ave. G, enumerated 12 Apr 1940, reporting they were renting their apartment in a large building, for $63 per month. They reported they had lived in the same city in 1935.²⁷
     When their father retired Stephen and his brother Joseph took over operation of the business.²⁷ Stephen registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Feb 1942, while living at 3533 Coilfax Ave. S., Minneapolis, MinnesotaG, reporting he was employed by Mutual Products Co., in Minneapolis.²
     Claims the company made for its products were questioned, resulting in legal proceedings. On 6 Feb 1943 it pleaded guilty in Federal Court to a charge of misbranding its farm animal feed, and was fined $100. It was charged with claiming the feed was effective in treatment of certain diseases, and claiming it gave the same results as whole and skim milk at half the cost.²⁸
     On 18 Aug 1944 Stephen and his brother Joseph, and both their wives, identified as copartners trading as Mutual Products Co., entered a cease and desist agreement with the Federal Trade Commission. Under the agreement they would not make a long list of claims about the product, including that 25 pound of the product was equal to 1,200 pounds of whole milk, that it protected calves from scours and pigs from worms, or it would produce rapid growth in pigs or chicks.²⁹
     Stephen left Mutual Products in the hands of his brother by 1947. The arrangements they made in the ownership of the business are unknown.
     Stephen and Diana moved to California about 1947, when they were living at 816 1st St. in San Diego G.^30,31
     He was laboratory worker California, working for Animal Research Laboratories.³²
