Narrative:

Jacob Hess Jr. was born on 7 Aug 1870 in Washington, IllinoisG.4,5,6 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, G in the household of his parents, Jacob Hess Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Klein.12
     Jacob married Amelia Esser on 8 Dec 1892 in Tazewell Co., IllinoisG.7,8,9
     Jacob and Amelia appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois G, enumerated 9 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their farm. Their children Edwind, William, Catherine, and Estella were listed as living with them.2
     Jacob and Amelia appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois G, enumerated 2 May 1910, reporting they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their children Edwind, William, Estella, Gertrude, and Rudolph were listed as living with them, as was his father, Jacob Hess Sr.3
     Jacob and Amelia appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois G, enumerated 2 Jan 1920, reporting that they owned their home. Their children William, Estella, Gertrude, and Rudolph were listed as living with them.13
     Jacob and Amelia appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois G, enumerated 17 Apr 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $5,000, and owned a radio. Their son Rudolph was listed as living with them, Their son William and his family were apparently living close by, as they are listed next.14
     He was a farmer until after 1910, becoming a carpenter by 1920.15,16,17
     Jacob died on 20 Mar 1933 in Washington, Tazewell Co., IllinoisG, at age 62.10 He was buried on 23 Mar 1933 in Glendale Cemetery, Washington, Tazewell Co., IllinoisG.11

     Amelia married Jacob Hess Jr., son of Jacob Hess Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Klein, on 8 Dec 1892 in Tazewell Co., IllinoisG.7,8,9
     Amelia and Jacob appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois G, enumerated 9 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their farm. Their children Edwind, William, Catherine, and Estella were listed as living with them.15
