Alvin R. Hill was born in Nov 1860 in Murfreesboro, TennesseeG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., TennesseeG, in the household of his parents, Charles J. Hill and Mary M. Todd.12 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., Tennessee G, in the household of his parents.13
     Alvin married Mattie W. Bush, daughter of William A. Bush and Elizabeth Weathered, on 2 Nov 1882 in Sumner Co., TennesseeG, with Rev. James E. Scobey officiating.7,8
     Alvin and Mattie appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., Tennessee G, enumerated 13 Jun 1900, reporting that they rented their home. Their children Allen, Lulu, Mary, Albert, and Lillian were listed as living with them.3
     He was a clerk in a store in 1880, at age 19, and later a merchant.14,15
     Alvin died on 29 Sep 1909 in Gallatin, TennesseeG, at age 48, in a runaway accident.9,10,11

Death occured in Sep but was recorded Jul, apparently of the following year, and report made under requirements of a 1909 act, so it appears the recorder entered the year in which the report as the year of death. Telephone conversation 15 Aug 2012 with Mr. Lodel, director of Rutherford Co. Archives, confirmed original record says death was 29 Sep 1909 and other details on image.

     Charles married Mary M. Todd on 26 Jul 1854 in Rutherford Co., TennesseeG.7,8,9
     Charles and Mary appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., TennesseeG, enumerated 8 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $15,000 and personal estate of $300. Their children Rudolphus and Eldrige were listed as living with them.2
     Charles and Mary appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., TennesseeG, enumerated 12 Aug 1870, reporting real estate valued at $4,000 and personal estate of $500. Their children Rudolphus, Eldrige, and Alvin were listed as living with them, as were Harmer Rhodes, age 30, a mulatto farm laborer, and his apparent wife, Mary, a Black domestic servant age 20, and son Thomas, age 1.3
     Charles and Mary appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., Tennessee G, enumerated 12 Jun 1880. Their children Rudolphus, Eldrige, and Alvin were listed as living with them, as was Oscar Robertson, a nephew age 4. Also listed was Ida Hill, age 20, identified as "daughter" but perhaps adopted, as she and her parents were reported as born in Indiana and there is no indication they ever lived outside Tennessee, and she is listed after the nephew.11
     He was a harness maker in 1870, and a mechanic by 1880.12,13
     Charles died on 15 Apr 1906 at age 76.4 He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., TennesseeG.10
