Anna Stuart Dickinson was born on 18 Jan 1854 in Fayette Co., Virginia
G.
5,6,7 She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Cotton Hill, Fayette Co., Virginia
G, in the household of her parents, Hudson M. Dickinson and Betty Ann Landcraft.
10 She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Fayetteville, Fayette Co., West Virginia
G, in the household of her parents.
11 Anna married
Jacob Peck Imboden, son of George Imboden and Isabella Wünderlich, on 17 Dec 1874 in Shannondale, Fayette Co., West Virginia
G, with C. W. Cook officiating.
2,8 It is known that Jacob was a mining engineer in Missouri and West Virginia, and later was a superintendent for a mining company in Georgia, though details have not been found. It appears that he and Anna moved to Missouri shortly after their marriage, but when they returned is unclear. The 1880 census shows all three of their children as born there, but later records show the two younger ones as born in West Virginia. While she and the children were back in West Virginia by 1880, his whereabouts then have not been found. It appears he never again lived with Anna and the children.
12,13 Anna appeared with her children Frank, George, and Gertrude, on the 1880 Federal Census of Fayette Co., West Virginia
G, in the household of her brother Walker.
14 It is not clear that Anna and Jacob ever obtained a divorce. When he tried to re-marry in Honduras in 1890 he was denied permission because the witnesses he offered could not satisfy local authorities that he was unmarried.
15 Anna appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Fayetteville, Fayette Co., West Virginia
G, enumerated 5 Jul 1900, reporting she was renting her home. Her daughter Gertrude was listed as living with her.
16 Anna appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Fayetteville, Fayette Co., West Virginia
G, enumerated 2 Jan 1920, in the home of her elder sister Rosa, along with America Parter, listed as Rosa's companion, and Thomas Myles, a lawyer who was listed as a roomer.
17 Her sister died in 1921, and Anna may have then moved to Ansted, where her daughter lived. But neither has been found in the 1930 census.
18 Anna died on 30 Jun 1938 in Ansted, West Virginia
G, at age 84.
9,7 She was buried in Dickinson Cemetery, Fayetteville, West Virginia
