Narrative:

Johann Gottlieb Deiß was born on 27 Sep 1844 in Enzberg, WuerttembergG.4,5,6 He was baptized on 29 Sep 1844 in Evangelische Kirche, Enzberg, WürttembergG.1
     Johann immigrated to the United StatesG with his parents, Jonas Deiß and Elizabeth Catharina Schütz, about 1853.13 In the United States he "Americanized" his given name, and the spelling of his surname, being known as John Gottlieb Deiss.3,14,15
     He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., KentuckyG, in the household of his parents.16
     He was a cigar maker apprentice in 1860, and a cigar maker by the time of his marriage.17,18,19,20,21
     John married Emma Frey, daughter of Johann Michael Frey and Louise Francoise Huguenot, on 17 Nov 1867 in Covington, Kenton Co., KentuckyG, with the consent of her father since she was under age.7,8,9
     John and Emma appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., KentuckyG, enumerated 18 Jun 1870, living in the same building as his parents. Their daughter Emma was listed as living with them.14
     John and Emma appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, at 813 Willard St. G, enumerated 8 Jun 1880. Their children Emma, John, Catherine, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Charles were listed as living with them.22
     John died on 14 Aug 1890 in Covington, KentuckyG, at age 45.10,6 He was buried on 16 Aug 1890 in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington, KentuckyG.11 He was apparently re-buried later in the family plot at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kenton Co., KentuckyG.12
