TMG's Language Capability

TMG has long had facilities for working in multiple languages, and those capabilities were significantly strengthened in TMG 5 and again in TMG 6. The program ships with translations for several languages and also has provision for users to modify those languages or create their own. With these features users can:

• Operate the program, and create reports, in one or more of the supplied languages.

• Modify a supplied language to reflect local spellings or other variations.

• Modify built-in terms and phrases on screens or in reports to suit personal preferences.

• Create custom "languages" to create specialized report formats.
     Perhaps the ultimate "power user" technique.

• Even adapt the program to operate in a language other than those supplied.
     Although this would be a major undertaking.

The language capability is made up of a complex set of features – just which of those you might need to utilize depends on your objective. The articles listed below are intended to help users with various objectives use those features to achieve their desired results. The first article, "Overview," includes a chart to help you decide which steps are required to achieve your language objective, with links to the articles describing those steps.
