     Anna Jane Pursell was born on 27 May 1842 in Pennsylvania.7,8,9
     She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Chillisquaque Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, with her parents, David W. Pursell and Mary Painter, in the household of John Painter, apparently her material grandfather.13 She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of her parents.14
     Anna married Alfred Gann, son of John Gann Jr. and Adeline Cruse, on 16 Feb 1865 in Williamsport, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.10,11,12
     Anna and Alfred appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Collomsville, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 30 Jul 1870, reporting real estate of $7,500 and personal estate of $1,000. Their children William and Mary were listed as living with them.15
     Anna and Alfred appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Limestone Twp., Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 11 Jun 1880. Their children Mary and Jennie were listed as living with them.16
     Her husband died on 4 Aug 1894 in Williamsport, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania.10,17
     Anna filed for a widow's pension on 14 Aug 1894 based on her late husband's civil war service. The pension was subsequently granted.18
     Anna appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Williamsport, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, at 1418 Scott, enumerated 1 Jun 1900, reporting that she was renting her home. Her daughter Cora was listed as living with her.19
     Anna appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Williamsport, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, at 316 S. Grier St., enumerated 16 Apr 1910. Her daughter Cora was listed as living with her.20
     Anna appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Williamsport, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of Cora and Ferdinand Page, her daughter and her husband.21
     Anna died on 8 Jan 1929 in 437 E. Church, Williamsport, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania, at age 86.6 She was buried on 11 Jan 1929 in Wildwood Cemetery.6
