Narrative:

     Bennie Rolland Reigel was born on 8 Jun 1900 in La Center, Clark Co., Washington.7,8,9 Bennie and Bessie Regina were twins.
     He moved to Oregon with his parents about 1908, when they took up homesteading there, having first lived for a time in Idaho. He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Silver Lake, Lake Co., Oregon, in the household of his parents.5
     He moved to Deschutes Co., Oregon, with his parents, probably before 1917. He registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living in Terrebonne, Deschutes Co., Oregon, reporting he was a student.2 He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Terrebonne, Deschutes Co., Oregon, in the household of his parents.20
     Bennie moved to California in 1930, before his parents.21
     Bennie appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Fresno Co., California, enumerated 22 Apr 1930, reporting that he rented his home for $5 per month, and owned a radio.22 He was a laborer at a fruit farm.23
     Bennie married Doris Leona Pendleton, daughter of Ralph Howard Pendleton and Minnie Irene Arnold, on 20 Sep 1933.10,11,12
     Bennie and Doris moved to Orland, Glenn Co., where his parents were then living, by 1934 when their daughter was born there. He applied for a Social Security Number 2 Feb 1937, while living at Rt. 3 Box 37, Orland, Glenn Co., California, where he was employed by Poultry Producers of Central California.3
     Bennie and Doris moved to Yolo Co. between 1937 and 1940.24 They appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Dunnigan, Yolo Co., California, enumerated 25 Apr 1940, reporting they were living on a farm and paying no rent. Their daughter Monna was listed as living with them.25
     He was a laborer on a ranch in 1940. That year he reported working 30 hours the last week of March, and 32 weeks the prior year, earning $175.26
     Bennie registered for the draft for World War II on 14 Feb 1942, while living at 1439 2nd, Forest Park, Kitsap Co., Washington, reporting he was employed by the Supply Dept. at Bremerton.27
     Bennie and Doris were divorced in Dec 1943 in Kitsap Co., Washington.13,14,15
     After being rejected for military service, Bennie and his brother Adin worked at the shipyards in Bremerton, Washington, during World War II.28,29
     Bennie moved to Santa Cruz, California, where his parents were living, by 1950. He appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Co., California, at 1000 Capitola Rd., enumerated 21 Apr 1950, reporting he lived in a home that was not on a farm, but on over three acres and he lived in the same house the year before. His 17-year-old niece Betty, daughter of his younger brother Adin, was listed as living with him. His father's brother Forest was listed as living in a trailer on the same property, andy his parents were listed as living nearby, at 990 Capitola Rd..30
     He was a contractor doing job plowing in 1950, reporting in the 1950 census he had worked 20 hours the prior week. He also reported working 21 weeks in 1949, earning $1,087 in wages or salary.31
     Bennie moved to 1715 Capitola Rd. by 1953, when he was living with his parents there.32,33,34 He and his parents moved to 1037 17th Ave. about 1954.35,36 Bennie moved to 800 Willow, San Jose, by 1956, and by 1961 had moved to Los Gatos.37
     By 1953 he was a laundry worker in Santa Cruz. By 1956 he was working at the Willows Laundry in San Jose. By 1961 he was laundry manager at the Montgomery Hotel there in Santa Cruz.38,37
     He retired in 1962 and moved to Ashland, Oregon, living at 743 B. St.39
     Bennie died on 14 May 1963 in Ashland, Jackson Co., Oregon, at age 62.16,17,18 He was buried on 17 May 1963 in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland, Jackson Co., Oregon.19
