     Erasmus Franklin Shols was born on 13 Nov 1902 in Chatsworth, Illinois.8,9,10
     He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Chatsworth, Livingston Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, Erasmus Ross Shols and Louise Marie Wienand.4 He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Chatsworth, Livingston Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents.5
     He was known to family as Rusty.17
     Erasmus studied engineering at University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois, from 1921 to 1924. It appears he did not receive a degree.18
     Erasmus married Seberta Leona Glabe, daughter of Sebastian Glabe and Anna Katherine Ruppel, on 28 Nov 1926 in Chatsworth, Livingston Co., Illinois, with Rev. C. J Krell, minister of the Evangelical Church, officiating. She was a younger sister of the woman his brother William had married three years before.11,12
     Erasmus and Seberta moved to the suburbs of Chicago after their marriage. They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Oak Park, Cook Co., Illinois, at 307 North Oak Park Ave., enumerated 24 Apr 1930, reporting they were renting their apartment, for $55 per month, and owned a radio.19
     Erasmus and Seberta moved north about ten miles, to Niles, between 1930 and 1935. They appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Niles, Cook Co., Illinois, at 8021 Keating Ave., enumerated 18 Apr 1940, reporting they were renting their apartment, for $48 per month, and had lived in the same house in 1935.20
     He was a civil engineer, working for Public Service Co. By 1940 he was a construction inspector. That year he reported having worked 40 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $2,500.21,22,23 He registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Feb 1942, while living at 8021 Keating, Skokie, Cook Co., Illinois, reporting he was employed by Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, in Northbrook.24 He reported in the 1950 census he had worked 40 hours the prior week.25
     Erasmus and Seberta moved to Skokie, a few miles east, before 1950. They appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Skokie, Cook Co., Illinois, at 8021 Keating, enumerated 16 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm.26
     Erasmus died on 12 Jan 1963 in Skokie, Illinois, at age 60, at his home.13,14 He was buried on 16 Jan 1963 in Chatsworth Cemetery, Chatsworth, Livingston Co., Illinois.15,16
