Narrative:

Stanley Jennings Hough was born on 25 Nov 1919 in St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota.6,7
Stanley was adopted before 1930 by Louise Rose Jennings, probably after the death of her husband in 1924. His birth parents have not been identified. Given Louise's age and the fact that she appears to have been widowed by then, it seems likely she undertook the adoption because he was the son of relatives who for some reason became unable to care for him. Stanley later reported both Louise and her husband, Frank F. Hough, as his parents but it seems likely that Frank had died before the adoption.13
Stanley appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Seattle, King Co., Washington, in the household of his adoptive mother, Louise Rose Jennings.5
His adoptive mother died on 29 May 1935, when Stanley was 15 years old.14
Stanley was enlisted in the U.S. Army 10 Aug 1937, and was discharged 8 Nov 1945 with a rank of 1st Lieutenant.15,16
Stanley appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Seattle, King Co., Washington, at 1627 Belmont, enumerated 13 Apr 1940, reporting he was renting his home, apparently an apartment in a building with over 30 units, for $18 per month. His father's sister, Carrie E. Hough, was listed in another apartment in the same building. He reported he has lived in the same city in 1935.17
Stanley married first Berna Elvira Jolley on 8 Jun 1940 in Everett, Snohomish Co., Washington, with H. M. Jamieson officiating.8
Stanley and Berna's son Gary died 9 Jun 1944, at age 3, after a fall from the second floor to the sidewalk below.18
Stanley married second Wilma Lucille Glabe, daughter of Charles Edward Glabe and Viola C. Wageman, on 4 Sep 1946.9 They settled in Denver, Colorado, after their marriage.
Stanley died on 21 Feb 1989 at age 69.10,11 He was buried on 24 Feb 1989 in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.12

  13. [S7984] Stanley Jennings Hough, Certificate of Birth, is not the standard form issued for new-borns, with certification of attending physician or midwife, but an alternate form issued by the state registrar certifying that is a true copy, "under the provisons of the laws of the state" of the record reported by the physician on 25 Nov 1919. Minnesota at the time issued replacement birth certificates in adoptions. The spaces for the father were left blank, and the mother is identified by her maiden name as the form calls for, and also as "(Mrs. Frank F. Hough)," suggesting he was no longer living.
