     William Augustus Heiple was born in Feb 1871 in Washington, Illinois.5,6,7
     His father died on 26 Mar 1875, when William was 4 years old.13
     He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Cruger Twp., Woodford Co., Illinois, in the household of his mother, Sarah Lohr, and stepfather, John W. Blumenshine.14 William completed sixth grade in elementary school.15
     William married Matilda Christina Glabe, daughter of John Glabe and Elizabeth Ruppel, on 18 Feb 1897 in Germanville, Livingston Co., Illinois, with Rev. J. Alber of Chatsworth officiating.8,9
     William and Matilda appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 29 Jun 1900, reporting that they rented their farm. Their children Elsie and Harold were listed as living with them.16
     William and Matilda appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 9 May 1910, reporting that they rented their farm. Their children Elsie, Harold, Louis, Charles and Gertrude were listed as living with them.17
     William and Matilda appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 3 Jan 1920, reporting that they rented their farm. Their children Harold, Louis, Charles, Gertrude and Dorothy were listed as living with them.18
     They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 12 Apr 1930, reporting that they rented their home, for $20 per month, and owned a radio. Their children Louis, Gertrude and Dorothy were listed as living with them. Their son Robert and his family were apparently living close by as they were listed as the next household.19
     William and Matilda appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 9 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a farm with a home valued at $800, and that they had all lived at the same home in 1935. Their son Louis was listed as living with them.15
     William and Matilda appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois, at 608 South Main St., enumerated 4 May 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm. Their son Louis was listed as living with them.20
     He was a farmer by 1900. In 1930, at age 59, he was a laborer doing odd jobs. In 1940 he was a laborer, reporting he had worked hours the last week of March, and four weeks the prior year, earning $75. He reported in the 1950 census he had not worked the prior week and was not looking for work.21,22,23,24,20
     His wife died on 24 Dec 1958 in Washington, Illinois.25,26,27
     William died in 1961.10,11 He was buried in Glendale Cemetery, Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois.12
     
Research Note, 26 Sep 2018:
Lee Pound in his 1967 book identifies William's parents as Eli Elijah Heiple and Mary Rosanna Snyder. All evidence currently available shows William's parents as Benjamin F. Heiple and Sarah Lohr. Eli was the brother of Benjamin, who had died when William as very young, and did live in the same area, apparently causing the confusion.28
