Narrative:

     Louis Oetzel was born on 17 Oct 1882 in Farmdale, Tazewell Co., Illinois.5,6,7 He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, Adam Oetzel and Caroline Glabe.2
     Louis married first Pamela Cumming, daughter of John P. Cumming and Ann Clayton, on 23 Dec 1908 in East Peoria, Illinois.5,8,9
     Louis appeared with Pamela on the 1910 Federal Census of Fon du Lac Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of John P. Cumming and Ann Clayton, her parents.18
     He was a farm laborer in 1910. It appears he started a career at the East Peoria factory of what was to become Caterpillar Tractor Co. soon afterwards in East Peoria.19 He registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois, reporting he was employed as a foreman by Holt Manufacturing Company (a predecessor to the Caterpillar Tractor Co.) in East Peoria.20
     Louis and Pamela appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Groveland Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, on Farmdale Rd., enumerated 6 Jan 1920, reporting they rented their home. Their children Eileen and Ann were listed as living with them.1
     Louis and Pamela moved to 119 Putnam, East Peoria, by 1922.21 They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of East Peoria, Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 5 Apr 1930, reporting that they owned a home valued at $6,000 and owned a radio. Their children Eileen and Ann were listed as living with them, as were her parents and her cousin Charles W. Hicks, age 57, unemployed.22
     Louis and Pamela were divorced about 1935.10,11
     Louis married second Alice Ethel Foose, daughter of Leman A. Foose and Sarah J. Moul, before 1939.12,13,14
     Louis and Alice appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 1517 Monroe St., enumerated 17 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a home valued at $4,500, and that each of them had lived in the same city in 1935.23
     By 1920 he was a foreman in a factory, and a check clerk there by 1930.24,25 In 1940 he reported that he was a checker for a tractor company, and had worked 40 hours the last week in March, and for 52 weeks the prior year, earning $1,871.23 He registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at 1517 N. Monroe St., Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, reporting he was employed by the Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria.26
     Louis died in Mar 1949 in Peoria, Illinois, at age 66.15,16 He was buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington, Fulton Co., Illinois.17
