Narrative:

     Homer Frederick Legree was born on 6 Jun 1918 in Cobalt, Ontario.9,10,11
     He immigrated to the United States with his parents, Frederick Legree and Margaret J. Kirkland in 1919, while an infant.5,6
     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, in the household of his parents.5 He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, in the household of his parents.6 He appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, in the household of his parents.20
     He was a punch press operator in a spark plug factory in 1940, at age 21. In the 1940 census he reported he had worked 32 hours the last week of March, and had worked 4 weeks the prior year, earning $100 in 1940.20
     Homer registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Oct 1940, while living at 524 E. Rankin, Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, reporting he was employed by A. C. Spark Plug Co., in Flint.2
     Homer enlisted as a private in the U.S. Army on 26 May 1942, in Detroit, Michigan.21,22
     Homer married first Mary Louise Glabe, daughter of Harvey Sebastian Glabe and Nettie Lou Bess, on 26 Feb 1943 in Little Rock, Pulaski Co., Arkansas, with Sam J. Spitzberg, justice of the peace, officiating.12,13,14
     Homer was discharged from the Army 6 Dec 1945.23
     He was a janitor and gadener at a church by 1950, reporting in the 1950 census he had worked 10 hours the prior week.24
     Homer and Mary appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of South Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, at 6665 Long Beach Blvd., enumerated 11 May 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm.25
     Homer and Mary were divorced in May 1966 in Orange Co., California.15,16
     Homer married second Karen Harriett Brown, daughter of Dr. Floyd Brown and Rudy Kimball, on 16 Dec 1967 in San Diego, California.17
     Homer and Karen moved to Michigan, where he became a professor at Central and Western Michigan Universities.26
     Homer and Karen later opened a Suzuki violin studio which served 100’s of students in the greater Grand Rapids area.26
     Homer died on 18 Jan 1994 in Kentwood, Kent Co., Michigan, at age 75.3,18 He was buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Kentwood, Kent Co., Michigan.19
