     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of her parents, David Allen Blackstock and Sallie Ann Conner.19 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of her parents.20
     Her mother died on 21 Dec 1883, when Sallie was 14 years old.21
     Sallie married first Melcajas A. Britton, son of Isham H. Britton and Mary W. Toot, on 10 Dec 1890 in Halifax Co., Virginia.8,9
     Sallie and Melcajas appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 27 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their home. Two boarders were also listed in the household, Fannie Covington, age 25, and Millie C. Blackstock, age 18, apparently a relative of hers.22
