     Joe Milam was born on 22 Sep 1893 in Sadlersville, Tennessee.9,10,11,12
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Montgomery Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents, James William Milam and Fannie L. Mitchell.5 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Montgomery Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents.6
     Joe registered for the draft for World War I on 5 Jun 1917, while living at Guthrie, Kentucky, reporting he was a self-employed farmer.1 He enlisted in the U.S. Army 27 May 1918, serving until 14 Dec 1918.20,21
     Joe married Virginia Tuck Cobb, daughter of Dr. Robert Linah Cobb Jr. and Mary Louisa Logan, on 23 Sep 1928 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee.13,14,15
     Joe and Virginia appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee, at 525 North Second, enumerated 5 Apr 1930, reporting that they rented for, $35 per month, space in the home of Roswell Parham, a livestock dealer, and his wife Emma. Neither family reported having a radio set.22
     Joe and Virginia appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Montgomery Co., Tennessee, enumerated 15 Apr 1940, reporting that they owned a home valued at $3,000, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children Joseph and James were listed as living with them.23
     He was an entomologist with the U. S. Government. In 1940 he reported having worked 44 hours the last week of March, and for 50 weeks the prior year, earning $2,500.22,23
     Joe died on 23 May 1976 at age 82.16,17,18 He was buried in Grace Chapel Episcopal Church Cemetery, Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee.19
