     Conrad Whear Britton was born on 22 Jul 1878 in Halifax Co., Virginia.6,7,8
     Conrad does not appear in the 1880 census with his mother, who was listed in her father's household, nor had he been found elsewhere. It seems likely he was actually living there and omitted from the census record somehow, but there is no way to know if that is correct.12
     Conrad was named an heir in the will of William Edward Britton, his grandfather, dated 16 Feb 1881 in Halifax Co., Virginia, in which she was to receive a one-third share in the proceeds of the sale of his real and personal property, to be held in trust.13
     Conrad married Della Mey Fallen, daughter of Thomas Fallen and Bettie Ann Cook, on 24 Feb 1897 in Halifax Co., Virginia, with Rev. W. T. A. Haynes officiating.9,10
     Conrad and Della appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 23 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their home. Their daughter Bessie was listed as living with them.14
     Conrad and Della appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Staunton District, Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 4 May 1910, reporting they rented their home. Their children Bessie, Thomas, Clyde and Ervin were listed as living with them.15
     He was a farmer in 1900, and a lumberman by 1910.16,17,18
     Conrad and Della moved to Charlotte Co. about 1912. Conrad registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at Charlotte Co., Virginia, reporting he was self-employoed in farmng.3
     Conrad and Della appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Roanoke, Charlotte Co., Virginia, at Charlotte Court House and Clarks Ferry Road, enumerated 29 Jan 1920, reporting they rented their home. Their children Bessie, Thomas, Clyde, Ervin, Andrew, Conrad and Marquis were listed as living with them.19
     He was Conrad returned to farming in Charlotte Co. He reported in 1940 that he had worked 40 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year.16,17,18
     Conrad and Della appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Roanoke, Charlotte Co., Virginia, at Cales Ferry Road, enumerated 5 Apr 1930, reporting they rented their home, and did not own a radio. Their children Bessie, Thomas, Clyde, Ervin, Marquis, Jesse, Verneader and Bette were listed as living with them, as were Clyde's wife Claire and their two-year-old daughter Jannis.20
     Conrad and Della appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Roanoke, Charlotte Co., Virginia, enumerated 19 Apr 1940, reporting they rented their home, for $4 per month, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their children Bessie, Thomas, Ervin, Andrew, Conrad, Marquis, Jesse, Verneader and Bette were listed as living with them.21
     Conrad registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at Brookneal, Charlotte Co., Virginia, reporting he was employed by Grannis & Higgins Co., Camp Pickett, Blacksone, Nattoway Co., Virginia.22
     His wife died on 1 Jun 1945 in Lynchburg, Virginia.23
     Conrad died on 17 Jun 1968 in Petersburg, Dinwiddie Co., Virginia, at age 89.11 He was buried on 21 Jun 1968 in Staunton River Baptist Church Cemetery, Aspenwall, Charlotte Co., Virginia.
