     Thomas George Crowder was born on 26 Mar 1855 in Halifax Co., Virginia.7,8,9,10
     He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of his parents, Rev. Giles N. Crowder and Nancy L. Spencer.15 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Hyco Twp., Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of his parents.16
     He is not with his parents and younger siblings in the 1880 census, nor has he been found elsewhere.
     He generally used his middle name, George, as an adult. When pressed to use a full name, reversed the order to George Thomas.10,17,3
     George appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 13 Jun 1900, reporting he owned his farm, free of mortgage. Tom Stoker, a 17-year old farm laborer, was listed as living with him.10
     Thomas married Mary Lewis Toot, daughter of John Smith Toot and Sallie R. Owen, on 21 Jan 1902 in Halifax Co., Virginia.11,12,13
     George and Mary appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 16 Apr 1910, reporting they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their children Sallie, Nancy and John were listed as living with them.17
     George and Mary appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 20 Mar 1920. Their children John and Mary were listed as living with them.18
     George and Mary appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Black Walnut, Halifax Co., Virginia, on Halifax County Highway 30, enumerated 8 Apr 1930, reporting they owned their home, and did not own a radio. Their children John and Mary were listed as living with them, as was Sallie Beard, a servant.19
     He was a farmer. By 1930 he was an agent for the Southern Railway.20,21,22,23
     George and Mary appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, on Route 49, enumerated 15 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $5,000, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their son John was listed as living with them.24
     George died on 6 Nov 1946 in Black Walnut District, Halifax Co., Virginia, at age 91.3,14 He was buried on 8 Nov 1946 in Mayo, Virginia.3
