Narrative:

Ann Elizabeth Laney was born about 9 Oct 1815 near Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.5,6,7
Ann married Christian Gann about 1848.8,9,10
Ann and Christian appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Hartley Twp., Union Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 9 Aug 1850, reporting real estate valued at $600. Their son George and his children by his prior marriage, John, Catharine, Christian, William and Mary, were listed as living with him.15
Ann and Christian appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Hartley Twp., Union Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 13 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $2,000 and personal estate of $494. Their children George, Anne and Harriet and his children Catharine, Christian, William and Mary were listed as living with him.16
Ann and Christian moved to Missouri about 1865.17
Ann was named an heir in the will of her husband Christian dated 15 Jan 1868 in Andrew Co., Missouri, in which he left her two parcels of land in Andrew Co. totalling 119 acres, the proceeds of the sale of land he held in Pennsylvania, and all his personal property. All this to be hers as long as she remained his widow, after which $300 would become her property and the rest divided among his children.18
Christian died on 3 Mar 1868.19,20
Ann appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Nodaway Twp., Andrew Co., Missouri, enumerated 28 Jul 1870, reporting real estate valued at $1,500 and personal estate of $1,200. Her children George and Harriet were listed as living with her, as was her step-daughter, Mary.21

Research Note, 24 Mar 2017:
The evidence that Ann was the daughter of John and Catherine Housel Laney is circumstantial, but reasonably persuasive. Her daughter Annie's death certificate shows her maiden name as Laney, and her daughter Harriet's middle name was Housel. Thomas H. Laney, a son of John and Catherine, was a witness to her husband's will, and John Laney, widely reported in unsourced online trees as another son, was his executor. John, John H., and Thomas H. Laney all lived in Andrew Co. and are buried in the Savannah Cemetery, where Ann and her husband were buried.23,24,25
