Narrative:

Lucinda Caroline Isom was born on 14 Mar 1826 in Alabama.5,6,7
She was probably the female under age 5 listed in the household of her father, Jonathan Isom, in the 1830 Federal Census of Limestone Co., Alabama.17
Lucinda married first Elisha W. Thomas on 16 Jan 1842 in Carroll Co., Missouri, with Rev. Abbot Hancock officating.8,9
Her husband died on 25 Apr 1849.18,19
The administrator of her late husband's estate filed an inventory of notes and real estate on 8 May 1849. It listed nine notes by various individuals, totaling, with interest due, $560. There were six parcels of land, one of 20 acres, four of 35 acres, and one of 40 acres.20 An appraisement of personal property was filed 31 May 1849, listing furniture, farm tools, a yoke of oxen, horses, a mule, cattle, 30 sheep and 35 hogs. Total value was listed as $368.21 On 1 Jun 1849 Lucinda acknowledged taking items of personal property from her late husband's estate totaling $96.10 as part of her widow's dower.22
Lucinda married second William Crutchfield Fawks on 10 Aug 1849 in Carroll Co., Missouri, with John W. Smith, justice of the peace, officiating.10,11,12
On 18 Jun 1850 Lucinda and her new husband acknowledged receipt of $40 from the estate of her late husband. The reason for the disbursement was not recorded, but it would appear to be part of the dower owed her.23 On 20 Aug 1851 Lucinda and her new husband acknowledged receipt of and additional $60 from the estate.24
Lucinda and William appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Bee Branch Twp., Chariton Co., Missouri, enumerated 16 Sep 1850, reporting real estate valued at $1,500. His children by his prior marriage, Fleming, Levi, Edward, Mariah, Sarah, Sabrina, and Nancy and her children by her prior marriage, William, Ailcy and Sarah, were listed as living with them.25
Her second husband died on 8 Jan 1852.12,26
In his final settlement statement in her first husband's estate, filed 10 Aug 1852, the administrator reported a balance of $335 remained to be distributed "in such manor as the court may find." Nothing has been found on how the court directed those funds be distributed, nor on how the land was distributed, but the law at the time would have directed that much of it would go to his children by his two marriages.27
Lucinda married third Andrew Jackson Street, son of John M. Street and Mariah Brady, on 19 Apr 1853 in Carroll Co., Missouri, with Rev. Aeron Baker officiating. He was a brother of the woman her brother John had married two years before.13,14,15
Lucinda and Andrew appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Morris Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, enumerated 26 Jul 1860, reporting real estate valued at $4,000 and personal estate of $1,100. Their children Mary, Mariah, Tabitha and Dorsey were listed as living with them, as where her children by her two prior marriages, William and Sarah Martha Thomas, and Elisha Rudolph Fawks.28
Lucinda and Andrew appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Morris Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, enumerated 30 Jun 1870, reporting real estate valued at $8,000 and personal estate of $2,362. Their children Mary, Mariah, Tabitha, Dorsey, Julia and Cornelia were listed as living with them, as was E. R. Fox, age 20, who was listed as a farm laborer. It seems likely that he was a relative of hers by her second marriage, as Fawks was commonly misspelled as Fox. Sarah and John Wesley Isom, his sister and her brother, and their family were evidently living close by as they were listed as the second preceding household in the census record.29
Lucinda and Andrew appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Morris Twp., Carroll Co., Missouri, enumerated 22 Jun 1880. Their children Dorsey and Cornelia were listed as living with them. His sister and her brother and their family were apparently still living nearby, as they were listed as the third following household in the census record.30
Lucinda and Andrew appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Bogard, Carroll Co., Missouri, enumerated 1 Jun 1900, reporting that they owned their home, free of mortgage.31
Lucinda died on 11 Jun 1902 at age 76.5 She was buried in the Streets Family Cemetery, Bogard, Carroll Co., Missouri.16
