Narrative:

Barzilla Brady was born about 21 Dec 1815 in Ohio.5,6,7
He was probably the male age 10 to 15 listed in the household of his father, Benjamin Brady, in the 1830 Federal Census of Fairfield Twp., Highland Co., Ohio.14
Barzilla married Sophia Santee on 7 Jan 1841 in Highland Co., Ohio, with Alezander Hughey, justice of the peace, officiating.8,9,10
Barzilla and Sophia Santee moved to Missouri before 1844, when their second son was born. His parents and sibling also moved there about this time, but Barzilla and Sophia returned to Ohio by 1850. They appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Fairfield Twp., Highland Co., Ohio, enumerated 5 Sep 1850, reporting no real estate owned. Their children James and Benjamin were listed as living with them.2
Barzilla and Sophia appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Fairfield Twp., Highland Co., Ohio, enumerated 2 Jul 1860, reporting real estate valued at $3,220 and personal estate of $3,354. Their children James and Benjamin were listed as living with them, as was May Santee, apparently her neice.15
He operated a store for a time in the 1850's, and probably earlier. He was appointed postmaster of Centerfield effective 20 May 1851, replacing James W. Santee, who is reported by un-sourced online trees as a brother of his wife. Postmasters often were storekeepers in small towns like this. He was replaced 23 Jun 1853. He was appointed again 16 Nov 1857, serving until 26 Jun 1862. However, by 1860 he declared his primary occupation as farming on 20 May 1851 in Centerfield, Highland Co., Ohio.16,17,18
Barzilla died on 18 Dec 1869.11,12 He was buried in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Highland Co., Ohio.13
Barzilla seems to have left a sizable estate. The 1870 census shows his widow and two sons apparently jointly reporting real estate valued at $11,250 and personal estate of $10,060, which would seem to be his estate. But no record of his estate is found in the Highland Co. probate records.19
