     William Irvin Hargraves was born on 22 Nov 1903 in Shickshinny, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania.7,8,9
     No record of his mother has been found after his birth. She is not listed with her husband and the children in the 1910 or 1920 censuses, though he is shown as married in both. She as not been found elsewhere, nor has another marriage record or a death record been found. Her husband is shown as widowed in the 1930 census.18,19,20
     William appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Shickshinny, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of his father, Richard Hargraves.4 He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Shickshinny, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of his father.21
     William married Thelma Margaret Souder, daughter of Joseph Souder and Sarah E. Reigle, on 21 Nov 1921 in Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, with William E. Smith, justice of the peace at Plymouth, officiating, after receiving the consent of her mother and his father because they were both minors.10,11,12
     William and Thelma appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Shickshinny, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, at 45 Nicely St, enumerated 9 Apr 1930, reporting that they were renting their home, for $5 per month, and did not own a radio. Their children Alice, Pearl, William and Arlene were listed as living with them. His brother Charles and his family, and their father were listed as living across the street. Her sister Gladys and her husband were listed as living a few houses away.22
     William and Thelma appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Shickshinny, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, at 93 Irene St., enumerated 5 Apr 1940, reporting that they were renting their home, for $5 per month, and had lived in the same city in 1935. Their children Alice, Pearl, William and Arlene were listed as living with them.23
     William registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Feb 1942, while living at 93 Iron St., Shickshinny, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, reporting he was employed by American Car and Foundry in Berwick.3
     He was a laborer when he married, and a miner by 1930. By 1940 he was a laborer doing road work, but reported that he was out of work, and had worked 46 weeks the prior year, earning $600.24,25,26
     He was an electrician at a railroad car shop, reporting in the 1950 census he had not worked the prior week but was looking for work.27
     William and Thelma appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Shickshinny, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, at 152 Susquehanna Ave., enumerated 12 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm. Their children Dale and Victor were listed as living with them.28
     William died on 14 Apr 1965 in Nanticoke, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, at age 61.13,14,15 He was buried on 17 Apr 1965 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Shickshinny, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania.16,17
