     James married Bridget A. Brady, daughter of Patrick Brady and Mary Debaney, about 1883.7,8,9
     James and Bridget appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 413 McBean St., enumerated 9 Jun 1900, reporting that they owned their home, which was mortgaged. Their children James, Mary, Sarah, Grace, Walter, Blanche, Russell, Gladys and Edith were listed as living with them, as were her sister and brother, Sarah K. Brady, age 33, a seamstress, and Michael J. Brady, age 31, a teamster.1
     James and Bridget appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 413 McBean St., enumerated 27 Apr 1910, reporting that they owned their home, free of mortgage. Their children Mary, Grace, Walter, Blanche, Russell, Gladys, Edith and Gerald were listed as living with them, as was his nephew William P. Roache, a 25-year-old boilermaker.2
     James and Bridget appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 1105 Knoxville Ave., enumerated 10 Jan 1920, reporting that they owned their home, which was mortgaged. Their children Mary, Walter, Blanche, Russell, Gladys, Edith and Gerald were listed as living with them, as was their granddaughter, Gladys M. Royster, child of their late daughter Grace and her deceased husband Albert E. Royster.10
     James and Bridget appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 1105 Knoxville Ave., enumerated 8 Apr 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $6,000, and owned a radio. Their children Walter, Blanche, Russell, Edith and Gerald were listed as living with them. Also listed were Glady M. Fenelon, the daughter of their late daughter Grace but now identified as an adopted daughter, and John M. Palmer widower of their daughter Sarah and their children Gerald, age 17, and Bernice, age 14.11
     He was a railroad clerk in 1900, a special agent for a railroad by 1910, and chief clerk by the time of his death.12,13,14,15
