     Samuel married first Maria Cobb, daughter of John Cobb and Mary Fuller, about 1823.8,9,10
     He was a Congregational minister, with posts in East Lyme, Hartfort, and New Haven.17,18,19
     His wife died on 27 Sep 1849 in North Lyme, New London Co., Connecticut.20,21,22
     Samuel married second Amelia Ayer, daughter of John Ayer, in 1853 in Old Saybrook Congregational Church, Old Saybrook, Connecticut, with Rev. William A. Hude of Westbrook officiating.11,12,13
     Samuel and Amelia appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Andover, Tolland Co., Connecticut, enumerated 22 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $500, his personal estate as $1,500 and hers as $1,000. Her sister, Deborah was also listed as living with them.23
