     Dr. James Rufus Rogers was born on 13 Oct 1866 in Wake Co., North Carolina.8,9,10
     He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of White Oak Twp., Wake Parish, North Carolina, in the household of his parents, Rev. James W. F. Rogers and Mary Ann Dennis.18 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of White Oak, Wake Parish, North Carolina, in the household of his parents.7
     James attended Wake Forest after graduating from the local public schools, then went on to University of Maryland, where he graduated in medicine in 1886.19
     He engaged in a general practice in Apex, North Carolina, the next seven years.19
     He moved to Raleigh in 1893, and practiced there the rest of his life. For 20 years he was physician at State College, and for 18 years the physician at the North Carolina State Prison in Raleigh.19,20,21,22,23
