     Ellen was named an heir in the will of her father, dated 22 Sep 1896. She was to receive, at the death of their mother, half of their father's lands, to be shared with her brother Thomas.13
     She attended Greensboro College, and then Peace Institute, Raleigh.14
     Ellen appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Kittrell Twp., Vance Co., North Carolina, in the household of Thomas Henry Crudup, her brother.15
     Ellen married Dr. James Rufus Rogers, son of Rev. James W. F. Rogers and Mary Ann Dennis, on 3 Dec 1902 in Kittrell, Vance Co., North Carolina, with Rev. Hubbard officiating.11,12,4
