     He was probably one of the two males age 5 to10 listed in the household of his father, John Hazelrigg, in the 1840 Federal Census of Decatur Co., Indiana.13
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Marion Twp., Decatur Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents.14
     John married Nancy H. Cobb, daughter of Dyar Cobb and Almyra Tremain, on 1 Nov 1853 in Decatur Co., Indiana, with Charles Hazelrigg, justice of the peace, offciating.8,9
     John and Nancy appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Marion Twp., Decatur Co., Indiana, enumerated 8 Aug 1860, reporting real estate valued at $3000 and personal estate of $350. Their children Emily and Sopha were listed as living with them.15
     He was a laborer in 1850, and a farmer by 1860.16,15,17,18 He registered for the draft for the Civil War, appearing on the register dated in Jun 1863, while living in Marion Co., Indiana, reporting he was employed as a farmer.14
