     Emma Arbuckle Mims was born in Dec 1876 in Arkansas.7,8,9 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Six Mile Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas, in the household of her parents, John M. Mims and Elizabeth [surname unknown].5
     Her father died on 12 Mar 1888, when Emma was 11 years old.15,16
     Emma married first James M. Coogan on 4 Jun 1892 in Logan Co., Arkansas, with W. B. Richey, justice of the peace, officiating, with the written permission of her mother since she was under age.10,11
     Emma and James appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Six Mile Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas, enumerated 7 Jun 1900, reporting that they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their children John and Leon were listed as living with them.17
     Emma and James appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Short Mountain Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas, enumerated 23 Apr 1910, reporting they were renting their farm. Their children John, Leon and Bonnie were listed as living with them, as was Lucy B. Casey, a 34-year old housekeeper identified as a lodger.18
     Emma and James appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Ft. Smith, Sebastian Co., Arkansas, at 418 South 13th St., enumerated 6 Jan 1920, reporting they were renting their home. Their children Leon, Bonnie and Fay were listed as living with them, as were daughter-in-law Annie, age 18, and granddaughter Marguarite, 11 months, apparently Leon's wife and daughter.19
     Emma and James appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Six Mile Twp., Logan Co., Arkansas, enumerated 10 Apr 1930, reporting they were renting their home, apparently from her mother who was listed as living in the same building as owner.20
     Her husband died on 20 Nov 1939 in Logan Co., Arkansas.21,22
     Emma appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Caulksville, Logan Co., Arkansas, enumerated 16 Apr 1940, reporting she owned a home valued at $300, and had lived in the same house in 1935.23
     Emma married second Samuel Melvin Gattis on 4 Aug 1945 in Logan Co., Arkansas, with J. W. Sanders, justice of the peace, officiating.12
     He died on 24 Dec 1959.24
     Emma died in 1961.13 She was buried in Caulksville Cemetery, Caulksville, Logan Co., Arkansas.14
