     Samuel Mulford Jessup was born on 12 Aug 1879 in Montrose, Pennsylvania.8,9,10
     He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of his parents, Hunting Cooper Jessup and Marina Modena Cobb.6
     His father died on 6 Dec 1897, when Samuel was 18 years old.14,15 His mother died on 12 Nov 1898, when Samuel was 19 years old.16,17
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of Sallie West Cobb, his late mother's sister.18 He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of his aunt Sallie.19
     In 1900, at age 20, and in 1910, at age 30, Samuel is shown as having no occupation.20,21 He registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 59 So. Main, Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, reporting he was employed as a laborer, by Mrs. S. W. Stewart, his aunt, at the same address.3
     Samuel moved to New York about 1919. He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York, in the household of Edwin Cobb Williams and Amy Bates Matthews, his cousin and his wife.22
     He was a landscape gardener while living in Brooklyn.23
     Samuel returned to Pennsylvania before 1930. He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of his sister Nina.24
     Samuel appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, at 4 Maple St., enumerated 10 May 1940, listed as one of six lodgers in a lodging house operated by Matilda Tyler.25
     He was a clerk at a service station in 1930. In 1940 he was a caretaker for a private home, reporting he had worked 12 weeks the prior year, earning $120. At his death his occupation was listed as laborer, doing lawn mowing and the like in Montrose.26,27,28
     Samuel registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at 4 Maple St., Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, reporting he was self-employed.29
     Samuel died on 17 Jun 1950 in 4 Maple St., Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, at age 70, at his home.11,12 He was buried on 22 Jun 1950 in Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania, next to his parents.13,2
