Abigail Cobb was born on 23 Jan 1783 in Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.6,7,8 She was probably one of the five females listed in the household of her father, Capt. Joshua Cobb, in the 1790 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.13 She was probably the female age 16 to 26 listed in the household of her father in the 1800 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.14 She married William Stoddard, son of Jonathan Stoddard and Mary Wright, on 18 Jan 1802 in Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont, with Gideon Adams, Justice of the Peace, officiating. His brother Grove married her sister Polly.9,10
Abigail and William moved to Oneida Co., in central New York, after their marriage. Her sister, and his brother, Polly and Grove, also moved there, although it is not clear whether they moved at the same time or if one followed the other.15 (See map.) She was probably the female age 26 to 45 listed in the household of her husband, William Stoddard, in the 1820 Federal Census of Vernon, Oneida Co., New York.16
Abigail Cobb and William Stoddard returned to Pawlet by 1840.17 She was probably the female age 50 to 60 listed in the household of her husband in the 1840 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.18
Abigail and William appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont, enumerated 24 Oct 1850, reporting real estate valued at $1,400. Their son Henry was listed as living with them, as was his wife, Mary, and their daughter Eliza.19
Abigail died on 5 Nov 1854 at age 71.11 She was buried in Mettowee Valley Cemetery, now known as the Old Pawlet Cemetery, Pawlet, Vermont.12

Children:
     Children with William Stoddard

The number of unidentified children in the household in the 1820, and 1840 census suggests that William and Abigail likely had other children beyond the one listed here.
