     Mary E. Garrett was born on 27 Apr 1856 in Princeton, Caldwell Co., Kentucky.8,9,10
     She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Princeton, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, in the household of her parents, Robert Garrett and Ellen Mary Cobb.18
     She moved to Kansas about 1862 with her parents.19,20,21 She appeared on the 1865 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of household of her parents.22
     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of her parents.23 She appeared on the 1875 State Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of household of her parents.24
     Mary married Joseph S. Keith, son of Samuel Keith and Sarah Ann Foley, on 24 Sep 1879 at her parents' home at 500 Broadway, Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, with Rev. W. N. Page officiating. A large number of "intimate friends of the family" were present, and the gifts were "very costly and numerous," in the view of one observer eclipsing in value any wedding for years.11,12,13
     Mary and Joseph appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., Kansas, in the household of her parents.25
     Mary was named an heir in the will of her father dated 6 Jun 1896, to receive an equal share with her four surviving siblings of his estate after their mother received the family home on South Broadway, $5,000 in government bonds, and half the remaining estate after payment of expenses. The five children were to receive their mother's share after her death.26
     Mary and Joseph appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, at 1406 Tracy Ave., enumerated 7 Jun 1900, reporting that they rented their home. Their children Nellie and Garrett were listed as living with them, as was George T. Coleman, his nephew, age 23, and Margaret Burns, a 26-year-old servant.27
     Her late husband's will was probated 9 Aug 1901 She had been named an executor, but declined to serve, and their son John, the other named executor, having been murdered, the court appointed their son Samuel as adminsitrator of the estate.28,26
     Mary died on 7 Mar 1910 in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, at age 53.14,15 She was buried on 8 Mar 1910 in Elmwood Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri.16,17
