     Mary H. Pruetzel was born on 13 Dec 1871 in St. Louis, Missouri.6,7,8 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, in the household of her parents, Charles Pruetzel and Marie Hertel.14
     Mary married Benjamin F. Barkhau, son of William Barkhau, about 1897.9,10,11
     Mary and Benjamin appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, on Weber Rd., enumerated 7 May 1910, reporting that the family rented its farm. Their children Clara, Mary, Caroline, Matilda, Bernhard and Emma were listed as living with them.15
     Mary and Benjamin appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, on Forman Ave., enumerated 19 Jan 1920, reporting that the family rented its farm. Their children Mary, Caroline, Matilda, Bernhard and Emma were listed as living with them.16
     Mary and Benjamin appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, on Forman Rd., enumerated 22 Apr 1930, reporting that the family owned its farm, and owned a radio. Their children Bernhard and Emma were listed as living with them, Their daughter, Caroline, and her husband and daugther, apparently lived close by as they are listed in the following household.17
     Mary died on 10 Jan 1932 on Foreman Ave., Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, at age 60.6,12 She was buried on 13 Jan 1932 in Sunset Burial Park, Affton, Missouri.13
