Sarah Loomis1,2,3

ID# 17567, (1722 - 1754)
  • Born: 15 Sep 1722 in Colchester, Connecticut.1,3
  • Married First: Michael Taintor in 1745.2,3,4
  • Married Second: Jonathan Willard 21 Dec 1752 in Colchester, Connecticut.5,4,2
  • Died: 25 Dec 1754 in Colchester, Connecticut.5
  • Note: There were two women named Sarah Loomis in 18th century Connecticut, second cousins once removed, who are named in various published and online genealogies as the wife of Michael Taintor and Jonathan Willard. This Sarah was one; the other was Sarah, daughter of Stephen and Esther (Colt) Loomis, who was born in 1711 in Windsor. I conclude that this Sarah was actually the wife of Michael and Jonathan, and that sources showing the other are all based on an error in the Loomis genealogy confusing the two. I find the genealogies supporting this conclusion to be more compelling, together with the fact that both Michael and Jonathan lived in Colchester and the age of the younger Sarah more consistent with a first marriage in 1745.3,2
Sarah also appears in our Family History Section where there is much more information about her.
